This is the second sports biography that I've worked with the author on to edit and to also help publish this book. What I learned in between the pages is something that I never knew, and I knew this person for about 8 or 9 years. Jerry's story is that of one who has experienced so many hardships; yet, he still found a way to rise above it all and shine the brightest among his peers. In other words, just looking at him you wouldn't know the depth of his internal pain. What makes this book special is that through Jerry's life experiences, you learn just exactly how someone can keep moving past so many barriers and obstacles that were clearly meant to knock him off course. I learned that even the people we look up to have their weaknesses. Through this book, I had a better understanding of what it really means to be human and what it means to learn from your mistakes.
