Portia Moore, author of, If I Break, has been so gracious and kind enough to agree to be featured on the blog for a short Q & A. Below are some of the questions I asked her based on my reading experience of the book and what I was curious to know. Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below!
Q: What led you to write this book?
Portia Moore: I was inspired by the song “Walk Away” by Christina Aguilara. I heard the song and the first draft of If I Break was born.
Q: What was
the message you wanted to get across to your readers or what message did u hope
that your readers learned from reading, If
I Break?
Portia Moore: I didn't write the story with a message in mind
originally. I wrote the first version of the story when I was seventeen. I had
never even been a real relationship before. It was kind of eerie going back and
reading it after I had experienced lust/love and all in between and when I went
back and read it, it really hit home. After many, many revisions I hope that people would take away
from the story that falling in love is the easy part. Staying in love is the
hard part, especially when life throws curve balls.
Q: If you
had any advice for Lauren, what would it be?
Portia Moore: If I could give one piece of advice to Lauren, it
would be to learn from the past.
Q: Do you
believe that you can truly love someone without knowing every single thing
about them? Why or why not?
Portia Moore: I think it's possible to love someone without
knowing everything about them. People have been married for years and still
don't know everything about one another.
Q: Why did
you decide to make Chris the real self as opposed to Cal?
Portia Moore: Chris' parents said he's the real self I didn't.
LOL.
Q: What did
Lauren and Cal's relationship teach you about yourself?
Portia Moore: That I have the worst taste in men. Seriously :-)
